• Use clean, chlorine free water at room temperature
• Add a flower food sachet if provided, or a teaspoon of sugar with a few drops of vinegar works just as well
• Strip any leaves that would sit below the waterline to prevent rot
• Refresh the water every two days and re-cut the stem ends each time
• Keep the bouquet away from fruit bowls, since ripening fruit releases ethylene gas that ages flowers faster

Gently removing outer petals as soon as they begin to fade helps the remaining fresh roses stay attractive longer. If a few roses wilt before the others, separate them from the bouquet and place them in fresh water on their own; this small step noticeably extends the life of the whole arrangement.
